U. K. job shortage prompts entrepreneurial network
With the British government pressing for colleges and universities to be more competitive, a new network of institutions is aiming both to encourage institutions to become more entrepreneurial and to allow students to spin off new enterprises into functioning businesses.
The institutions, called further education colleges and roughly equivalent to the community college system in the United States, have historically emphasized more vocational courses, with many students going directly into industry upon graduation.
