A BRITISH soldier was killed yesterday in an explosion in Afghanistan while on a patrol to disrupt insurgent activity. The serviceman, from the 5th Battalion The Rifles, died in the Nahr-e Saraj area of Helmand Province, the MoD said. He was on an Isaf foot patrol, as part of Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (South), when a makeshift bomb went off.
