'No change' to private sector pay despite the recession

AVERAGE earnings in the private sector remained virtually unchanged throughout the recession, according to a leading government think-tank.The Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) claims that both average earnings and average labour costs hardly changed between late 2006 and late 2009 despite the collapse of the economy.Part-time employees were the only people to see big pay cuts as employers cut the number of hours worked, the ESRI says...
