Dedicated police constable commutes staggering 450 miles to work

Irish Sun (ANI) Tuesday 1st May, 2012

London, May 1 (ANI: A dedicated police officer posted in UK goes the extra mile for the people on his beat - by commuting 450 miles from his new home in Germany every week.

PC Sean Hannigan, 45, moved to Frankfurt after wife Annie relocated there for work.

But instead of leaving the job, he takes a 90-minute flight and does a week of shifts before heading back.

"If you are doing a job which you love and which gives you so much fulfilment, then -travelling a few hundred miles to get there and home again isn't a problem," the Mirror quoted Hannigan as saying.

He said his boss was surprised when he revealed his plan to commute.

"I've never known anyone travel this kind of distance to get to work but Sean is the sort of character who will make this work," Inspector Rich Ward said.

Derek Crane, of Barlestone Parish Council, a village on PC Hannigan's beat in Market Bosworth, Leics, said that they were glad to keep him.

"I don't know how he does it but we're glad to keep him," Crane added. (ANI)
