Glance-FTSE flat as bank strength offset by miner retreat

Barclays was the stand-out gainer, up 2.1 percent after the bank reported a forecast-beating 32 percent rise in annual earnings on Tuesday. This helped lift other banks, with majority state-owned Lloyds Banking Group gaining 2.1 percent, but weaker miners kept the index flat. By 0900 GMT, the FTSE 100 was 1.94 points or 0.03 percent higher at 6,062.03 after it fell 0.1 percent lower on Monday. It has been trading in a fairly tight range since the start of February.
