Tamil Tigers holding jungle hostages
Irish Sun Monday 16th February, 2009
Tens of thousands of civilians have been prevented from leaving Sri Lanka's war zone by Tamil Tiger guerrillas.
United Nations agencies have revealed that some civilians were shot while trying to escape fighting.
According to the UN, Tiger soldiers have captured non-combatants and are holding them as hostages in a portion of jungle from which none of them can escape because it is completely surrounded by government forces.
