Button hoping for Formula One's 'good first impression' in India

British Formula One driver Jenson Button says that his team is eager to make a 'good first impression' of the sport in cricket-crazy India through the Indian Grand Prix.

The race, the 17th of the 2011 season, will be held at the Buddh International Circuit near New Delhi on October 30,

"It's important for the sport that we make a good first impression and I really hope we have a fantastic race," the Sun quoted Button, as saying.

"Our car has been pretty competitive recently and we'd like to win more races before the end of the season," he added.

The 31-year-old also insists that racing in new circuit will be an "intense" challenge.

"The first time you run on a new circuit is strange because you're piecing together an incredibly diverse and vivid set of data in your mind. That's quite an intense experience," Button said.

"You're quickly gathering everything together - constantly assessing the grip-level, watching for unexpected bumps, checking the kerb heights, run-off areas, pitlane entry and exit, gradient. And that all happens at about 170mph!" he added.

The circuit, designed by F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke, is 5.141 kilometres and is spread across an area of 875 acres. (ANI)
