Putin wants New Year holidays shifted to May

Irish Sun (IANS) Thursday 9th February, 2012

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has proposed to reduce the nearly two-week-long Christmas and New Year holidays and shifting them to May.

Russians celebrate Christmas Jan 7 while New Year holidays are usually from Jan 1 through Jan 10.

"I propose limiting all these holidays to January 7, Christmas, with all other public days off to be moved, for example, to May," he said.
