Firefighters save historic NYC church from flames
The Miami Herald Tuesday 11th January, 2011
Members of Branches United Methodist Church lost their building in a fire two months ago, but they haven't lost hope. With the help of a neighboring congregation and some other friends, the Florida City church has been able to continue its Summer Shade program, a camp for underprivileged kids at a new location, Florida City Elementary. ``It's been hard on all of us, but we're committed to going on,'' said Kim King Torres, director of the summer program. ``People pull together to make things happen.''
