So far 12 people have been killed in the gangland feud
Law enforcement has foiled 22 hits in Kinahan-Hutch gangland feud
The latest interception came this week after ERT prevented a murder operation
DUBLIN, Ireland - Since the start of the bloody Kinahan-Hutch feud, Gardai has foiled 22 suspected murder bids in the country.
Based on intelligence-led operations Gardai have foiled several planned operations that were believed to be part of the feud, that has so far claimed 12 lives so far.
The latest interception came earlier this week when the armed Emergency Response Team stopped a van on Dublin’s Kylemore Road and discovered a loaded firearm inside.
The incident, like the others was part of an intelligence-led operation by Garda National Drugs Unit and Organised Crime Bureau.
Gardai, who arrested two men after the operation, believe the intended target was a former associate who has fallen out with the Kinahan cartel.
In a similar incident last June, officers foiled an attack on Patsy Hutch, Gerry “The Monk” Hutch’s brother.
Gardai foiled the murder bid on the Kinahan cartel target, when officers searched a moped and another vehicle and seized a loaded Glock handgun, motorcycle helmet, gloves and a full can of petrol.
Assistant Garda Commissioner John O’Driscoll said in June, “It’s not a case that business had stopped in terms of them targeting potential victims, but has been ongoing and we have intervened at times and some of the firearms seized have been loaded in preparation for assassinations. We have found some machine guns, assault rifles, and have arrested people who were about to commit a murder. I would be absolutely certain that we have stopped in excess of 20 killings.”
