DUBLIN, Ireland - In a shocking expose, a report in the Irish Sunday Mirror has revealed that gardai managed to foil an assassination attempt on Gerry “The Monk” Hutch’s brother, Patsy Hutch.
The report has revealed that a Kinahan ‘hit squad’ was offered 200,000 euros to murder Patsy Hutch but their assassination attempt was foiled by gardai, who nabbed the assassins on their way to do the deed.
According to the report, the Kinahan gang paid the huge sum to the three-man hit team, to assassinate the man, who has escaped two previous attempts on his life.
It said that the heavily-armed three-man unit was on their way to shoot Patsy Hutch, when gardai swooped at around 8 am in the north inner-city Dublin.
The report further pointed out that the squad of assassins were caught with a sub-machine gun, semi-automatic pistol and revolver.
Officials suspect that the crew smashed up a house just off Gardiner Street in Dublin’s north inner-city to lure 57-year-old Patsy Hutch out of the property so they could shoot him.
Gardai, the report said, managed to swoop on a van carrying the three men before they could attack.
Further, it also noted that the Kinahans had put off the attack for a week due to Storm Emma.
All the three men were subsequently arrested by the drugs and organized crime bureau into the Hutch-Kinahan gangland feud.
A source quoted in the report revealed, “The suspects were arrested close to the spot where the planned hit was to take place. They smashed up a house which they believed Patsy was staying in. They were waiting for him to come down and examine the damage so they could take him out. Had they been given half a chance they would have riddled him with bullets. With the amount of gun power they had he wouldn’t have stood a chance.”
According to the source, “The cartel can’t get at Gerry so they are targeting the people he cares about. They have already murdered three of The Monk’s nephews, his brother Eddie, as well as some of his closest lifelong friends. They are probably hoping that if they keep killing off those he loves he will come out of hiding. It’s believed the hit team were offered 200,000 euros to carry out the well-orchestrated attack. Had the gardai not been ready and waiting to intervene another innocent life would have been lost.”
With 14 men already being killed as part of the ongoing gangland feud, Garda assistant commissioner John O’Driscoll pointed out, “We stated on numerous occasions our efforts at tackling organised crime, particularly where it gives rise to threat to life, are unrelenting. The action taken today, through a combination of the resources assigned to SCO and security and intelligence, within the Garda Siochana, has yet again resulted in the arrests of suspects and the associated seizure of firearms.”
