Washington D.C [USA], Sept 23 (ANI): American Broadway actor Billy Porter who is known for his sartorial dressing style is grabbing eyeballs at Emmy's purple carpet with his unusual hat.
Billy had earlier told PEOPLE that his 2019 Emmys look would be "a fashion moment" -- and the boundary-breaking nominee did not disappoint his fans.
Hot off landing a spot on PEOPLE's 2019 Best Dressed list, the Pose star captivated the carpet once again in a sparkling couture suit by Michael Kors and whiplash-inducing hat by Stephen Jones Millinery.
Giving detailed information about the stunning outfit, Michael Kors spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and said, " The look took over 170 hours to hand embroider and the pinstripes were created using 51,510 mini crystals for the jacket and 79,200 for the pants."Sharing a glimpse of his outfit, the star shared a picture on his Instagram and penned a long note explaining about being the first gay, black man to walk the EmmyAwards carpet.
"THE MOMENT HAS ARRIVED HUNTIES! ad With my @KetelOne_US martini in hand, taking a moment to reflect on dreaming the impossible and making it a reality. Growing up, there was never a representation of someone who looked like me... So to live in my truth, beloved for being who I am and standing proud as the first openly gay, black man to walk the EmmyAwards red carpet as a Lead Actor Drama nominee... Y'all just don't know what this moment means to me. Here's to celebrating 50 years of life, 30 years of hard work and learning to embrace the JOY! This isn't for me... It's for US! Now let's go shut this thing down ya'll," he wrote.
"We started talking three months ago when Billy saw a white crystal-embroidered dinner jacket and [flared] trouser look that we showed during our resort 2020 presentation. We worked to produce it in all black just for him, with a shift in proportion, and then we connected him with [British milliner] Stephen Jones for the custom hat," Kors added.
The 49-year-old star continues to shatter ceilings as he pushes for inclusivity in the industry not only with his style but with his work on screen. The star is the first openly gay black man to receive a nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series category for his starring role as Pray Tell in Ryan Murphy's FX drama 'Pose.'"I feel really blessed to have lived long enough to see this day, to see the world transform in this way, where our story gets to be told on this level with this kind of juice behind it, Ryan Murphy behind it," Porter told PEOPLE the same day Emmy nominations were announced in July. "It's really life-altering." (ANI)Get a daily dose of Irish Sun news through our daily email, its complimentary and keeps you fully up to date with world and business news as well.
