SYDNEY, Australia - Stocks in Asia rebounded on Friday, although in China trading was cautious.
The Japanese benchmark index, the Nikkei 225, jumped 107.06 points or 0.46% to close Friday at 23,145.64.
The Australian All Ordinaries climbed 38.80 points or 0.57% to 6,816.50.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng rose 128.20 points or 0.48% to 26,595.88.
China's Shanghai Composite slid 18.35 points or 0.63% to 2,885.29.
The U.S. dollar was quiet in Asian trading Friday. The euro and British pound were little changed at 1.1066 and 1.2920 respectively.
The Japanese yen was steady at 108.61 while the Swiss franc eased to 0.9936. The Canadian dollar remained unchanged at 1.3287. The Australian dollar drifted lower to 0.6785. The New Zealand dollar inched down to 0.6406.
Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrials closed down down 54.80 points or 0.20% at 27,766.29.
The Nasdaq Composite declined 20.51 points or 0.24% to 8,506.21.
The Standard and Poor's 500 fell 4.92 points or 0.16% to 3,103.54.
