DUBLIN, Ireland: A new report ranks Ireland as the fifth most attractive labour market in Europe.
The report was issued by jobs site Indeed.
The report reviewed job searches across 21 countries with populations again interested in moving countries for a new position for the first time since the Covid pandemic.
Of all countries, Ireland is now one of five that is experiencing a "brain gain," as more people have more interest in moving to Ireland than leaving.
Of all seeking employment, the number one country of interest is the United Kingdom.
Nearly one quarter of the searches focused on the UK, followed by the United States, Spain, India and France.
In Ireland, cross-border job searches has returned to 16 percent below pre-pandemic levels.
Also, 80 percent of Irish businesses said they anticipate recruiting workers from overseas this year.
Indeed reported that those sectors expected to attract overseas workers include software development, IT, management and accounting.
"This survey shows that Ireland is an attractive destination for internationally mobile, highly skilled people, whose experience is in high demand, particularly in the technology sector," said Jack Kennedy, economist at Indeed, as reported by independent.ie.
"Many businesses are already taking steps to hire foreign workers, such as posting jobs abroad, hiring recruiters with foreign language skills, and writing job descriptions in multiple languages,"
Additionally, 46 percent of Irish employers surveyed said they would make special arrangements to assist Ukrainian refugees, including fast-tracking Ukrainian refugee job applications.
