CUPERTINO, California: In line with its efforts to move some of its production from China, Apple has announced that it will manufacture its latest smartphone, the iPhone 14, in factories in India.
The tech giant launched the flagship iPhone 14 earlier this month. With the exception of a new adventure-focused watch, the launch promises safety upgrades, rather than new technical specifications.
"The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities. We are excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India," Apple said in a statement.
According to J.P.Morgan, Apple will shift some 5 percent of its iPhone 14 production to India beginning in late 2022. India is the world's second-largest smartphone market after China, and it could manufacture 25 percent of iPhones by 2025.
