CO MONAGHAN, Ireland - Gardai are continuing to seek public assistance in relation to the violent death of a man at his home at Knockreagh Lower, Broomfield, Co. Monaghan, on Thursday morning.
The death of Christopher Mooney, aged 60 years (pictured), has been declared a murder.
A post-mortem was carried out by Dr. Linda Mulligan, Office of the State Pathologist on Friday. The results gardai say will not be disclosed for operational reasons.
The house in which Mr Mooney was killed remains a crime scene, and the examination of the scene continues by the Garda Technical Bureau.
Investigations are ongoing under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer based at Castleblayney.
Gardai say a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and continues to keep the family informed of the investigation.
A separate investigation is underway into the death of a 37-year old man, Kieran Hamill, who was seen fleeing from the Mooney household shortly before Mr Mooney's body was discovered. He was struck by a car and killed. It is understood the collision was accidental.
