DUBLIN, Ireland: Ten thousand Irish homes will receive help in paying their energy bills, after Energy provider SSE Airtricity announced that it will donate €2.5 million to EnergyCloud Ireland as assistance.
The money is to be used by homeowners to install smart technology that taps into surplus renewable energy, which would be otherwise wasted, to operate home water heaters for free.
Qualifying homes need to spend at least ten percent of their net incomes on energy, excluding motor fuel.
This donation from SSE Airtricity follows its earlier announcement to forego profits this financial year and instead invest in programs that assist customers throughout Ireland who are being harmed by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
"SSE Airtricity has been working with EnergyCloud since its foundation, recognizing the innovative role that it plays in supporting fuel-poor households," said Klair Neenan, Managing Director of SSE Airtricity, as quoted by the Irish Mirror.
Speaking on behalf of
EnergyCloud Ireland, Chairperson Gabriel D'Arcy, added, "This is a very significant commitment from SSE Airtricity and is reflective of the leadership shown by the company in rolling out the original EnergyCloud pilot project with Cluid Housing."
