SEOUL, South Korea: Contrary to earlier reports, Samsung Electronics will not switch the default search engine on its smartphones from Google to Microsoft's Bing, the Wall Street Journal reported last week.
Samsung officials said they had begun discussions of using Bing on their phones, but suspended further meetings.
Of note, Samsung pays Google some $3 billion annually for use of its app on their phones.
In recent months, Bing has gained popularity among the public as it integrated OpenAI's artificial intelligence technology into its search engine operations.
