Hunt for Driver Who Fled Scene of Fatal Collision on N24

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the N24 .
The collision involved 3 cars and occurred at approximately 11:10pm.
The sole occupant of a car, a female driver (aged in her 30’s) was pronounced deadat the scene.

CO LIMERICK, Ireland - Gardaí in County Limerick have launched an appeal for information after a fatal three-vehicle collision, with investigators desperately trying to trace a driver who fled the scene on foot.

The serious crash occurred on the N24 at Grange West, near Boher, Co. Limerick, at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Friday night.

Emergency services attended the scene, where the sole occupant of one of the cars, a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead. Her body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination is expected to take place.

The sole occupant of a second vehicle, a man in his 40s, was taken to the same hospital for treatment. His injuries are understood to be non-life-threatening.

However, investigators have confirmed that a third car was involved in the collision. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene, leaving their car behind. Identifying and locating this individual is now a central focus of the investigation.

The N24 was closed for several hours between the R505 and L1132 junctions to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who was travelling on the N24 near Grange West between 10:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Friday night to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak to any road users who may have dash-cam footage, or anyone who witnessed the collision itself.
