CO LOUTH, Ireland - A man in his 80s has died following a two-vehicle collision on the N2 in Co. Louth on Wednesday evening.
The crash, involving a truck and a car, occurred at Edmondstown, Ardee, shortly before 5:40pm.
Emergency services and Gardaí attended the scene, but the driver of the car, a man aged in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The local coroner has been notified.
The N2 road was closed for a number of hours to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions put in place.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to any road users who were travelling in the Edmondstown area between 5:00pm and 6:00pm on Wednesday.
Anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, is asked to make it available to investigators.
