Nobody was as excited as Cody Bellinger when he hit what would be the game-winning home run Sunday night against the Atlanta Braves to push the Dodgers into the World Series.
Perhaps too excited.
He exchanged celebratory forearm slams with Enrique Hernandez and AJ Pollock after the homer and said he dislocated his right shoulder when he and Hernandez came together.
Bellinger hit the decisive homer in the seventh inning, taking a while to watch it leave the yard, but said he wished he had skipped the arm slam.
"I think it's the third or fourth time I've done it," Bellinger said Monday. "The next day's the same. I already expected how I was going to feel.
"I feel good right now."
He does not appear on the injury report, and the Dodgers need him to feel good.
He is 2-for-2 with two homers and a walk off Tampa Bay Rays Game 1 starter Tyler Glasnow.
As Bellinger noted, it's not the first time he's dislocated his right shoulder, and the repeated injury is what sent the 2019 NL MVP to the outfield from first base last season.
Hernandez put a capper on the moment.
"You can take a positive out of everything," said Hernandez - who tied the game in the sixth with a pinch-hit homer -- in the post-game TV interview. "And the positive here is that Belli now knows that he can't mess with people who are way stronger than him."
