Butler and Chaminade will look to make lemonade out of lemons when they square off on Wednesday in the seventh-place game of the Maui Invitational, being played this year in Las Vegas.

Butler (3-3) has dropped its first two games in the tournament, to the No. 12 Houston Cougars and the Texas AM Aggies, respectively, and have lost three straight overall.

The Bulldogs fell to the Aggies 57-50 on Tuesday in the consolation semifinal after battling back from a 12-point deficit with 11 minutes to play. They drew to within three points on Chuck Harris' offensive rebound and putback with 27 seconds remaining. But Texas AM canned four free throws to cement the game.

Jair Bolden paced the Bulldogs with 10 points, while Jayden Taylor added nine. Butler shot just 36.2 percent from the floor.

"We had some opportunities there and didn't capitalize," Butler coach LaVall Jordan said after the loss. "Look, we've got things to figure out for certain, and I'm excited about this group's potential. The potential is just a word. There's things we've got to do together. Take a look at ourselves in the mirror tonight and move on to the next opponent."

The Silverswords (2-2), who play in NCAA Division II, will try to get a win in the tournament that they usually host in Hawaii, but they will have to play better after being dominated by Oregon on Monday and by Notre Dame on Tuesday, the latter a 90-64 defeat.

Chaminade trailed by just three points at the half against the Fighting Irish but was dispatched by a 21-0 Notre Dame run to open the second half. Isaac Amaral-Artharee led the Silverswords with 16 points, with Zach McIntire adding 13 and Paris Taylor hitting for 10 in the loss.

"It doesn't matter what division level or what type of players you have," Chaminade guard Raazhel Watkins said. "We got to come in with a winning mindset and just go out and execute with our game plan and believe in each other and the team."

Chaminade opened the season with two wins in the PacWest/GNAC Challenge in Anchorage, Alaska.
